What is an MRI?

An MRI, which stands for magnetic resonance imaging, is a very common non-invasive medical test performed to take detailed images inside your body. Unlike X-rays and CT scans, MRIs do not utilize radiation and there are no known side effects from the use of magnetic field exposure associated with an MRI exam.

MRIs help doctors diagnose a disease, medical condition or injury, and can be performed on many parts of your body, including bones and joints, the head, chest or spine. The resulting images from MRIs often produce details that would be invisible or hard to see using other imaging methods.
